Cleaner & Safer Water for Port Moresby Residents
Brown Consulting has been appointed Technical Advisor to the Final Detailed Design of the Port Moresby Sewerage Scheme. This work encompasses the verification of the civil, hydraulic and process design for a 18.4ML/day Sewage Treatment Plant including 35km of sewerage trunk and reticulation mains, 17 pump stations, ocean outfall and mechancial dewatering equipment.
As there is currently no sewage treatment plant in the coastal area, home to about 67,000 residents, sewage is released into the ocean untreated. This has led to deterioration in sanitation and destruction of the ocean environment including bleaching of the coral reef. The sewer facility will remove pollutants from the water, ensuring a more sanitary environment and a higher level of water quality so that the coral reef can thrive.
