Peter Lee, Brown Consulting’s Head of Planning in NSW has taken an in-depth look into the growth regions of Western Sydney.

In the report, Sydney’s Growth Centres, Peter has compiled a summary of the areas ear-marked for redevelopment and rezoning. With 1 in 11 Australians already living in this region and a likely population of around three million within the next twenty years* – the growth of western Sydney cannot be ignored.

Brisbane: At the Consult Australia awards, Googong Township received yet another “gong” to complement its already long list of industry recognised awards. This time, it wasn’t the development itself which took the accolades, but rather, the standout relationship between Brown Consulting, and their client, CIC Australia (representing Googong Township Pty Ltd) which won the Client Focus category.

Brisbane: Brown Consulting has further strengthened its water and environment expertise through the appointment of Matthew Hill as Business Unit Manager for the Brisbane-based Water and Environment Unit.

Mr Hill brings to Brown significant international major project and business management experience that includes overseeing the master plan and design of two of the famous man-made Palm Islands in the United Arab Emirates.

In mid October, 60 clients, staff and industry leaders including the Honourable Jarrod Bleijie (Queensland Attorney General and Minister for Justice) and Divisional Councillor Peter Cox joined Gary Spence, Managing Director and Brent Thomas, Regional Manager at the opening of the new Brown Consulting office on the Sunshine Coast.

Brent Thomas said that client demand and growth in the region had prompted the relocation to a larger office at Innovation Parkway, Birtinya.

Brown Consulting's NSW team were recently awarded the Excellence in Infrastucture Award by the Stormwater Indutstry Association (NSW) for their work at Elizabeth Hills. Elizabeth Hills is a new urban development project in Sydney's south west. The judges identified Elizabeth Hills as a project demonstrating excellence in the innovation, development, completion and management of stormwater projects.

In July, Jason van Paassen was appointed to the newly created position of Manager – Transport (Queensland) to support Brown’s transport capability growth strategy for the state. Jason is a specialist transport engineer and project director with 19 years’ professional experience in Australia and the United Kingdom.
